As you can see in the photo, we are all a step away from the kingdom of hope to the kingdom of God for better of worse. Only the road of time stands between the two worlds. Like leaves from trees, we are all one by one falling to the ground in the hope of life eternal.
The Kingdom of Hope on Earth is the Church. It is a hidden kingdom because "its freedom is hidden under trials, its happiness under sufferings, its right under rightlessness, its omnipotence under weakness, its glory under unrecognizability. Here the kingdom of God is seen under the form of Lordship of the Crucified One." (Ibid., Moltimann, Theology of Hope, p. 123)
This hope was expressed by one of the revolutionaries crucified with Christ who said to Him, "Remember me when you come into your kingdom." Christ assured him, "Amen, Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise." (Lk 24:42-43) The good revolutionary knew he was a sinner and deserved his punishment thus regretting his sins. He expressed the spiritual attitude of those whom Christ called "Blessed" or Happy, "Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Mt. 5:4)
Those in the kingdom are those while on earth had become poor in spirit or humble in the presence of God, sorrowing for their sins, gentle and kind in the face of adversity, seeking justice, offering forgiveness to those who injure us and desiring God above all else. They have realized their hope and now walk with joy in the land where they have an intuitive vision of God, praising him and giving Him glory in whatever they do.
With the resurrection of the body the whole universe will be transformed. The blessed ones will experience a kingdom of unimaginable revelation in the dynamic power of the Spirit. Men and angels will praise God unceasingly. Boredom is unimaginable in God's kingdom because time as we know it will be no more. The dynamics of the material universe will have changed and become subject to the thoughts and desires of intelligent creatures now imbued with the Spirit of God in a kingdom of unimaginable beauty, harmony and peace.
I am coming soon,
I will bring with me the recompense
I will give to each according to his deeds." (Rv 22:12)
